Most struggle to maintain propriety over a small amount of land and crop production sufficient enough to provide food for extended families throughout the year. While others (1.5 million people) face the daily challenge of finding and collecting water for the basic need of cooking
and cleaning each day.
The challenges are many, Nicaragua is the second poorest country in
Central America, following Haiti. Fostered by centuries of foreign political and corporate domination, what was once a country of rainforests and unlimited natural resources now faces challenges associated with the consequences of deforestation - drying terrain, soil erosion, water and food shortages.
