| Gifts that Keep Giving Our work in Nicaragua began in the 1980’s - and energetically continues to this day - in response to hope and a deeply felt concern for the people of Nicaragua: hope engendered by the example of a nation redirecting its resources to feed its people, to provide education and health care, to respect and ensure human rights; concern for a people faced with a legacy of dictatorship and war, crippling natural disasters, and a global economic order that seeks to relegate them to below subsistence wages and depletion of their natural resources. Our aid not only helps people rebuild their lives and communities, it helps sustain a people’s hope - our lullaby for a country so flooded in tears as beckoned by Nicaraguan poet Gioconda Belli. Gifts to Sustain the work of Our Nicaraguan Partners Much of our work in Nicaragua revolves around the relationships we have nurtured with Nicaraguan non-governmental organizations. These professional and accountable organizations turn our good intentions into good works on behalf of the Nicaraguan people. When you make a donation towards one or more of these projects as a gift to someone, PeaceWorks will provide 100 percent of that gift to our Nicaraguan partner. We will also resent you with a colorful card to explain the gift’s benefits or we can send that card to the person receiving the gift. |
